Jackson JS12 Dinky AH Metallic Red — Affordable Superstrat for Rock and Metal

The Jackson JS12 Dinky AH Metallic Red is a workhorse Superstrat electric guitar aimed at players seeking Jackson's signature aggressive tone and pointed-headstock style at an entry-level price. Built around a lightweight poplar body and a bolt-on maple neck, it delivers fast, fluid playability with a pair of Jackson high-output humbuckers providing thick crunch through any amp.

What Sets This Superstrat Apart

Distinctive construction details give this guitar a step above standard budget Superstrats. The neck features a scarf joint and graphite reinforcement rods for stability during aggressive tremolo use. In addition, the 2-point fulcrum tremolo bridge is paired with a full-size sustain block, resulting in more body and resonance than stamped-steel bridges often found at this price.

Poplar Body and Bolt-On Neck — Built for Long Sets and Heavy Playing

Keeping the JS12 Dinky light, the poplar body suits hours of standing performance. Its gloss Metallic Red finish ensures a striking visual on stage. Meanwhile, the bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint keeps tuning stable through dive-bombs, string bends, and temperature swings.

• Body Material: Poplar — light weight reduces shoulder fatigue during long gigs
• The gloss Metallic Red finish stands up to wear and delivers a vibrant stage presence.
• Neck Construction: Bolt-on maple with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint — resists warping and keeps tuning stable

Fast Neck, Flat Radius, 24 Jumbo Frets — Built for Shred

Players benefit from a satin-finished maple neck with a slim profile that moves easily beneath the hand. The 12-inch fingerboard radius provides a flat surface for rhythm chords and lead lines. Twenty-four jumbo frets and white pearloid dot inlays extend the range beyond the typical 22-fret format.

• Fingerboard Material: Amaranth — dark, dense tonewood with a smooth feel under the fingers
• With a scale length of 648 mm (25.5"), you get tight low-end response and crisp attack
• Fingerboard Radius: 305 mm (12") — flat surface ideal for fast lead playing and string bending

Jackson High-Output Humbuckers and 2-Point Tremolo — Stage-Ready Signal Chain

A pair of Jackson high-output humbucking pickups with ceramic magnets produces thick, articulate tone with bite for palm-muted chugs and soaring leads. The controls remain straightforward thanks to a 3-position blade switch, single volume, and single tone knob. Expressive pitch effects are possible via the 2-point fulcrum tremolo bridge.

• Pickup Configuration: HH (Jackson High-Output Humbucking) — thick, aggressive tone suited to rock and metal
• The 2-point Fulcrum Tremolo bridge with full-size block gives you strong sustain for both subtle vibrato and heavy dive-bombs.
• Tuning Machines: Jackson Sealed Die-Cast — smooth, accurate tuning with minimal slippage

Who Should Play the JS12 Dinky AH Metallic Red

This model suits rock and metal players who need a gig-ready Superstrat with aggressive humbucker tone at an accessible price. Beginners will appreciate the slim satin neck and flat 12-inch radius, while intermediate players benefit from a reliable stage instrument with the same pickup platform as found in higher-tier Jacksons. Working musicians often choose it as a lightweight backup guitar for tours and rehearsals.

Jackson JS Series — Affordable Access to the Brand's Shred Heritage

Jackson built its reputation in the 1980s on pointy headstocks, fast necks, and high-output pickups crafted for thrash and shred. The JS Series brings that legacy to entry-level players, with the JS12 Dinky available in the lineup since January 2019 as one of the most accessible ways into the Jackson family.
